We like to think that CTEC is one of, if not, the best motorcycle training course available in Canada. A main reason for this is the quality of instructors. Our instructors have well over 30 years of consecutive instructing experience, training tens upon thousands of students the joy of safe motorcycle riding, and are continually held to the highest of standards each and every time they take on a course of new students. Here is a list profiling just some of the remarkable talent and experience on staff at CTEC.
Head Instructor and Course Creator
James has been heavily involved in motorcycle training of all types from absolute basic to full-on superbike training. For the past 24 years he has taught over 22,000 students the fine art of riding, racing and has trained hundreds of new Instructors the craft of training new riding students.
James has competed at all levels of motorsports racing including Moto Cross, Superbike Racing, SCCA Car roadracing, and many others. He has won provincial superbike championships in 2001 and 2005. He has won championships as both a racer and team owner.
AME Magazine Award
James taught thousands of new motorcyclists with the Alberta Safety Council in the 1990's and left the ASC in 2003 to create the very popular NAIT Motorcycle Rider Training program (MRST101), which, in it's first year of operation, won the Alberta Motorcycle Enthusiast (AME) Magazine award (see left) for most popular rider training school in Alberta taking over 52% of the popular vote. James then honed the course into a very student friendly training facility by offering free ongoing rider training to all of his past students. He demanded a very high level of expertise with his motorcycle Instructors and instituted an ongoing development-training program for himself and his entire training staff. After training thousands of new motorcyclists with NAIT, James needed a new challenge.
In November of 2009 James left NAIT to join forces with the car-training experts at the Canadian Traffic Education Centre (CTEC). CTEC is well known as the home of expert advanced driver training for the daily driver, professional driver training and Police Forensic Collision Investigation training in western Canada. James viewed this as a perfect fit for his product and his expert training staff. With 19 of his Instructional staff from NAIT, James and crew left to create the most student success driven course in Canada. James truly loves working with every student and working with his students towards their goals.
In his personal time James enjoys music, playing guitar, singing karaoke, travelling the world and playing poker. James has ridden and raced motorcycles all over the world. He has spent a great deal of time riding Europe, Japan, China, South America, every U.S. State (finally completed in Dec 2011, in Hawaii) and every Canadian Province. When asked what his favorite bike is, James' response: "anything with two wheels and an engine!"
