Instructor Profiles

We like to think that CTEC is one of, if not, the best motorcycle training course available in Canada. A main reason for this is the quality of instructors. Our instructors have well over 30 years of consecutive instructing experience, training tens upon thousands of students the joy of safe motorcycle riding, and are continually held to the highest of standards each and every time they take on a course of new students. Here is a list profiling just some of the remarkable talent and experience on staff at CTEC.

Stuart Hunter

Senior Instructor

Instructor - Al Moore

Stuart's motorcycling career began near the turn of the century with a course at the Alberta Safety Council instructed by CTEC course creator, and head instructor, James McCarthy. Stuart and James met again in 2009 when Stuart came to work under James at NAIT as an instructor with the Motorcycle Rider Safety Training Program. In the intervening years Stuart developed his love of motorcycling starting with a 1980 Suzuki GS 850, followed by a 1983 Suzuki GS1100. It was on the GS 1100 that Stuart first discovered his love of touring taking trips around the province; this love influenced his next purchase of motorcycle which was a 1984 Yamaha Venture. Over the years Stuart has enjoyed touring all over western Canada and the western United States, particularly on his current motorcycle, a 2005 Honda VTX 1800 which he has had since new.

Prior to starting his motorcycle instructor career Stuart obtained a bachelors degree in Physical Education from the University of Alberta with a specialization in Sport and Athletic Performance. During the course of his degree Stuart joined the University Men's Gymnastics team as well as discovered the sport of mountain biking. After his gymnastics career ended Stuart became very involved with the local mountain biking scene, organizing weekly observed trials rides, competitions and actively coaching locally as well as across the province for the Alberta Bicycle Association. At the same time Stuart was working as a highly sought after performance coach, working with people from all walks of life from New Year's weight loss to world champions to help them reach their fitness and performance goals. This diverse sports and coaching background has allowed Stuart to become an integral member of the CTEC instructional team where his talents in movement analysis and correction have helped thousands of students learn to ride.

When he isn't helping people look good on a Motorcycle, Stuart is the Owner/Operator of local custom clothier business, Venator Avenue, where he helps people look good off the bike as well.
