We like to think that CTEC is one of, if not, the best motorcycle training course available in Canada. A main reason for this is the quality of instructors. Our instructors have well over 30 years of consecutive instructing experience, training tens upon thousands of students the joy of safe motorcycle riding, and are continually held to the highest of standards each and every time they take on a course of new students. Here is a list profiling just some of the remarkable talent and experience on staff at CTEC.
Joseph has been heavily involved in the motorcycle industry in one form or another for over 11 years. For Joseph, motorcycling isn't just a hobby anymore, it's a lifestyle his career but mostly his passion.
In 2001, Joseph completed his motorcycle rider training with the Alberta Safety Council then taught by James McCarthy (creator of the NAIT and CTEC rider training programs). It wasn't long after he earned his Motorcycle license that he started touring on his first street bike a 1985 Honda CB750 Night Hawk. Over the years and on many different motorcycles, Joseph has toured all over Canada and the U.S. His most recent motorcycle trip was a month long ride in South East Asia where he rode a BMW1150GS from Singapore up the east coast of Malaysia into Thailand then made a loop back down the west coast of Thailand then Malaysia and back to Singapore. When in Malaysia, Joseph took in the championship deciding round of MotoGP at the Sepang Circuit in Kuala Lumpur.
In addition to riding on the street, Joseph also rides and has competed in many other forms of motorcycling including enduro riding, back roads touring, ice racing, road racing, and flat track racing. Some of Joseph's racing accomplishments include, 2004 EMRA rookie of the year, 2005 EMRA SV Cup Champion, 2007 provincial pro lightweight sport bike champion.
Joseph started his Instructing with James McCarthy at the NAIT Rider Training Program in 2008 and joined the new venture at CTEC in December of 2009.
Being a part of James' elite team of instructors at CTEC has been a fun and rewarding experience for Joseph. He enjoys the opportunity to share his passion for motorcycling with students and help them build on existing skills or develop new skills to help ensure they can enjoy the full experience of motorcycling safely.
Outside of CTEC Joseph works fulltime in the sales department at Scona Cycle Honda. In his spare time Joseph enjoys doing anything with motorcycles: from riding them on fun and interesting trips, working on motorcycles and even racing them! Joseph also enjoys riding his mountain bike, camping, hiking and pretty much anything to do with the outdoors. Best of all Joseph is a red seal chef- if he's cooking gourmet Kraft dinner!
When asked about an embarrassing moment, Josephs' response was: Probably riding as a passenger on the back of fellow instructor Dale Buraks' bike for part way of the annual Canada Day ride returning from Jasper due to a mechanical problem on one of the bikes (the bosses ZX14R broke down and he couldn't let him ride with Dale as a passenger, so Joseph gave up his RC51 for James to ride... what a nice guy!)
